I am the sustainable seafood coordinator for the Ecology Action Centre. My work is focused on improving seafood traceability and labelling within Canada, through policy reform and industry advancements. I also contribute Atlantic fisheries knowledge and experience to the team in order to meet our goals.
With a passion for aquatic environments and food, I became involved with fisheries research and aware of current seafood issues during my undergraduate degree. This interest led me to complete my master’s degree with a research focus on seafood traceability in Nova Scotia. Prior to SeaChoice, I also worked within the industry at a local fishmonger in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and with other environmental non-profits conducting project-based work, outreach and event planning.
I hold a MSc in Marine Management from Dalhousie University and a BSc in Marine and Freshwater Biology from the University of Guelph.
