Make Sustainable Seafood Your New Year's Resolution With a Visit to The Big Carrot

TORONTO, ONTARIO - The Big Carrot partners with SeaChoice, Canada's leading sustainable seafood program, making it easier than ever for Torontonians to enjoy seafood that is sustainably caught.

As part of this collaboration with SeaChoice, The Big Carrot has implemented a six-point seafood sustainability policy including:

  • Sourcing and purchasing seafood products that support sustainable fisheries.
  • Prohibiting the sale of any fish categorized by SeaChoice as "Avoid".
  • Maintaining complete, transparent seafood product information.
  • Sharing information with our customers and conservation partners.
  • Educating our employees, supplier partners, and customers on our guiding principles associated with sustainably sourced seafood products.
  • Encouraging policymakers to improve and develop laws and regulations that support sustainability.
Look for easily identifiable labels that correspond to the SeaChoice sustainable seafood pocket guide. Questions about why a certain item may be listed as "green" or "yellow"? Find the answers you need in the detailed Seafood Reference Manual conveniently located at the self-serve fish counter or visit SeaChoice.org for more info.
